installing .NET 8 and the pre-release of vintage story

Hello hello! i am trying to install the latest pre-release of vintage story which is in early access, i am still very new to the linux stuff and i have been using the little bazaar app to download most apps (including vintage story) but the pre-release is not on there. Could someone offer some help on how i go about doing this? i tried to figure out which version of .net i was already running but the command im finding online is not working, think im probably doing it wrong. Thank you in advance!

Hiya! The best way to do this would be to do this in a Distrobox container, especially as the pre-release/unstable builds aren't repackaged elsewhere.

My advice, stick with a Fedora container for Vintage Story for the sake of simplicity, and follow this official guide to get all the dependencies installed in the Distrobox https://wiki.vintagestory.at/index.php?title=Installing_the_game_on_Linux

After dependencies are installed, it should be a simple case of running the ./run.sh or ./Vintagestory files from the extracted archive inside the distrobox container

Whilst I think you should be able to run Vintage Story OOTB, at least on Bazzite, sticking with Flatpaks is definitely the preferred method for running apps like this, and for 'legacy' packaged apps like the VS Pre-releases, you're best off in a container environment
