Getting Stuck at Grub
Hi, i have no idea if it's my Rufus prefixs not or not, once i load the Bootable USB, I get loaded to Grub, then it tells me to write the kernel, found the filesystems and parition and where the kernel images are located and vmlinuz etc+ and write them, then boot it gets stuck at [OK] Finished systemd-vconsole-setup.service then just times out. I tried 2 different USBS, And even balenaetcher aswell tried many different rufus settings, i have secure boot disabled and USB Boot turned on. i'm using GPT UEFI and still nothing, i'm on a HP Pavillion gaming 15 Laptop

try fedora media writer
to flash the usb
should just work then
Sorry as i have NEVER installed a different OS other then windows, pretty sure it's an app and not fedora itself, right?
And i'm on windows with a Nvidia GPU
fedora media writer is a program like balena or rufus
it does the same thing but it has the right defaults for bazzite
if fedora media writer doesn't work u can troubleshoot from there but the first step is trying to flash the USB with fedora media writer instead of balena or rufus
Problem is, i'm not on linux as it downloaded a .flatpakref and the tutorial on how to basically interact with it doesn't have windows listed, just linux distros.
fedora media writer has a windows version
and, i'm installing it for another device do i need to be in that device or does it just install it to the USB?
you need a usb with the bazzite iso flashed to it
and you should use fedora media writer to do this
exact same thing you've been trying to do with rufus
I recommend using the bazzite live iso if you aren't already
i have the bazzite iso, and the USB-drive do i just download fedora and configure it?
install fedora media writer
plug in your usb
open fedora media writer and use it to flash the bazzite iso to your USB stick
i downloaded this pretty much i believe.

yeah that's not the live iso but that's fine
live iso is just a better install experience
its right below the button u screenshotted
hold on, i'm formatting my usb drive as it's still raw from all the other attempts
(it was fat32, became raw the last time for some reason)
it doesn't really matter
but sure
writing it
because i was wondering why there was an virtual cd-rom now is because i wrote it in dd mode last time and now i can't remove it but i don't think it'll matter
this is why rufus is a bad idea
too many settings
@bodyofbirds sorry for distrubing, but it's done, what now? do i try booting from it?
uh huh
wait, i thought it was done lmfao but thank god i didn't unplug it
says there's an issue and it's prob damaged
well, i don't have any other usbs
i'll try the old one then
got it on a new usb can 15gb work?
I don't fully understand the question
do u have another USB or don't u
i have, i was wondering if the new one is big enough
(it's 15gb)
if its a problem then the live iso is smaller
should be fine tho
15gb is a weird size for a usb
its probably 16
it's 16, windows compresses things i know that i just didn't really care to mention rn
also, sorry for wasting your time but it's really late for me and i'll retry tmrw, all i have to do is just boot from it after fedora does it's thing right?
idk what else you would do with a bootable usb drive
yeah it's prob an issue with the ISO, maybe it got corrupted or some shit since i tried over 3 usbs and fedora still fails, with "this drive is not writable" even gave it admin perms
anyway i can confirm it?
something i already figured out the error happens 100mb before the write is complete
tried it on a VM instead it goes back to point 1

i'll try a random iso to completely confirm
can you elaborate on what specifically you're doing and what is happening
yeah, thanks for your help i think i figured out
all USBS perfectly work fine, my iso prob was corrupted or it just doesn't work for my system
installed another linux distro to test it and it works fine
it "not working on your system" is not really a thing unless u have an nvidia gpu older than 10 series
download the live iso and give detailed steps about what ur doing and where it fails if it does
it's 16 series
should work with that or no?
yea it absolutely works with 16 series
i'm guessing that counts gddr6 mobile versions of them
for sure
optimus is a bit messy but bazzite has ways of handling it
game mode doesn't work on it though, right?
it can
no idea why it only works on 20 series even though they're both turing
it can?
where did u hear it only works on 20 series
reddit, i guess
no like, for nvidia users game mode is only avb on the 20 series
is what i thought
right but who told u that
saw it on reddit
gaming mode is less supported on nvidia overall but it can work fine
never heard of a difference between 16 and 20 series
on a laptop idk why youd want gamemode tho
well, tensor cores and RT cores aren't on the 16 series (except for the 1660ti having software based RT not core based)
but that's pretty much it
none of which would apply to whether u can boot into gamemode
well, fair enough
.
downloading it rn but my internet's slow
LIKE really slow
2mb/s download
50kb upload per sec
wow
well the live iso is smaller than the other one
so thatll help
actually no, 1.4mb average 2mb if it's completely not on load and it has to be insanely early in the day
but yes that is helping
it must be difficult to live on the moon
router's the main problem lol
i can get 5mb/s which is not great but still a good improvement, and like 3mb upload
it's just that my router is from like 2012
routing internet with a calculator
still stuck at adsl2
ancient tech
even 3g is faster
my 4g is about 6x faster
maybe u should download the iso on mobile hotspot
problem is, i love the fact that my hotspot only has 6gb data limit
hmm
i see the issue
btw go react to #✅code-of-conduct while u wait so u can access the server properly
everything went smoothly
thanks alot
