right off the bat, the stuff on the right seems like the discriminant of the root of a quad eqn
yhou have formed a quad eqn too
which came from the distance formula, right?
its a direct formula but yea it is derived from distance formula itself so yup ur right
but the value im getting from there aint even matching options though
radius tak sahi hai. iske baad ka step you have to form from the constraint that it touches the x axis at a, 0 correct?
hence, alpha = 2a, do you get that?
since the centre would be at (a, -r) where r is the radius? (Assuming circle is below the y axis)
then uske baad what you have done usme you can sub, that is correct, so you get gamma = 3 a^2
then use intercept on y axis (i.e. x = 0) and solve for y and you are done :)
