I keep doing those steps but it drops them in front of me like 1 stud

you build momentum with a spin, from left to right, then you jump and swing either left or right whilst releasing them. this dumps the momentum into the throw. i also crouch as well just to help me with timing but u dont have to

btw im not talking abt the superjump one. it looks like this
i dont know the best way to do it but from my experience just throw the person like normal but right as you throw them jump and spin fast

think of it like a super jump
except you are not jumping
press X to release the downed person once you have flung your camera in a certain direction

@vsp While the videos above do help you can also spin smoothly in one direction, just like a superjump, while throwing. Sliding will also help

try get like 3-4 spins maximum
it works sort of well
