What is th best solution to stop Lag/ slowing when hosting server
I recently, over summer played Tmod with 7-8 other people at once. keep in mind this is with 20+ mods including Wrath of the gods, infernum, calamity, and calamity overhaul. during pre-hardmode and pre-moon lord we had no problems with visual gameplay/lag but right as we passed moon lord, and onto providence all but 3 of us experienced major lag or slowed down gameplay (including me, the host) [I don't know the official term for slowed gameplay, sorry!]
from then on every fight and weapon with more than 10 projectiles lagged the heck out of us. I do not have any files or video to back this up as we didn't complete this playthrough because of the lag but with no crashes hence no files indicating errors and such.
I would just like to know any solutions besides getting a smaller pc just for a server or another host to prevent the lag, thank you for your time.
