Updating from v1.125.7 to latest(v1.138) What should I do?

Lately, I have been postponing the upgrade from the above-mentioned version, as there are so many breaking changes currently. Can anyone guide me on the best approach to upload? I am currently building a second PC for backup purposes. Currently, I have backed up with an external HDD the important pictures and database.
I don't want any issues with the upgrade process, but I am okay with the worst case.
