Will the Verify and Repair option in Epic Games automatically download the required data, or will it notify me first?

It automatically verifies (validates that all files are there & undamaged) and repairs (redownloads & replaces damaged files)

no way to know the size of data will be download

correct. you can see the maximum that will be downloaded, i.e., the total game download size, but you are not informed of how much the actual download will be
