Part Cooling fan doesn't work any more

Hello, I made a little oopsie, I changed a jumper of the controller fan on my octopus v1.1 while power was on (I know dumb). I wanted to change from 12 to 24v and accidentally shorted the 24v jumper with pliers while the jumper was still on the 12v. Board, 24v fans and raspberry still works, but the 12v part cooling fan stopped working. I thought I killed the 12v rail, but after trying another fan I had lying around it still works on the same pin where the part cooling fan didn't (the weird part is I can't turn the fan off in mainsail). Any suggestions what happened and how I can make it work again. (I probably need another 12v part cooling fan).

I think you figured it out. The pin is still giving power, but the old fan doesn't work. Replace fan.

Yeah, very probably, but why can't I turn off the fan I tried instead? Is it because the board/fanout is somehow damaged? I guess I have to try another one to rule things out. Edit: maybe the mosfet is broken.

Ohhh, you can't turn it off? Yeah that suggests the fet is stuck on. You should be able to use a different port

Thx for your answers 🙂 I think I got the solution. I found out that the fan gets plugged into the always on channel and that the pwm is controlled by the ebb42. The pwm fan is blown probably and I just had a normal fan with 2 cables laying around, that's why it doesn't shut off - it simply lacks pwm. (Contolled by PA0 on ebb42) Case solved I guess 🙈👍

Ahh, yeah that makes sense
