Fall 2025 Inspiration - Topic of the day 8/25/25
Nothing beats a Jet2 holiday except dressing for the cooler weather of fall (or warmer weather in the southern hemisphere). What items are you looking forward to buy and wear? Next purchase is likely going to be a black lemaire wrap coat so I can still wear the lemaire fits when the temp drops. Then if I can find a used one in my size on proxy a real mccoys pea coat. Already nabbed a wool RRL overshirt and if there's time and money left in the season I'd like to pick up a dark EG 2-piece. I'm feeling basic dark americana for the most part, which is a minor departure, I've never been big on monochromatic black fits before. Probably try to get some pickups to compliment the MF ranch blouse because I plan to wear that to death.

I think I’m feeling corduroy again. (Realistically: when am I not?)
So it’ll be some of that - currently eyeing corduroy jackets in a Harrington style or similar. Pants too, I think.
Maybe possibly I’ll also get another (wilder) wool jacket. The ones Carrier Company makes seem pretty interesting.
Last - for some unexplainable reason - a vest has been calling to me and I can’t quite say if I like the siren song. I’ve been considering this HebTroCo vest anyways. Sweater vests have been working well for me, so why not buttons?
The vibe I’m feeling is definitely my typical take on workwear, Ivy and Americana in general, though I’m trying to also take it a little less serious as I‘m progressing.
Anyways - I think my weekly inspo will start to move into fall again as well, so keep an eye on that if you feel like it.

Visions for fall 2025 I just made up:
-“Wrong shoe” philosophy for any particular item in an otherwise cohesive outfit, i’m talking one thing looking bizarrely out of place. Lots of fall layering so it’s one item of many.
-Customizing an item for a single fit. Safety pinned or sloppy whip-stiches attaching two items together, a pop of visual flair appliqué, or a closure sewn closed to fit just-so
-Dance studio style base layering on all gender expressions. All That Jazz (1979) “Take Off With Us” blueprint
-Marrying workwear with overt expressive looks. Need to find inspo pics for this.
-Intentional horrible wrinkling. Stuffing a garment under the mattress the night before wearing, wetting and broomstick pleating gauzy shirts, swaths of mangled fabric as shawls/scarves/belts/wraps
-Big ass bag
looking forward to wearing big wool sweater, leather jacket, corduroy, boots more again
I've enjoyed dressing this summer more than I expected but I'm pumped for colder weather and all the options that brings with layering

I recently came across a funny account doing the “steal their look” bit with various birds and I’d like to do a similar bit with fall foliage etc. trouble is I don’t know too many trees wearing denim and flannels but that’s what I’m currently thinking about
I've been thinking a lot about layering skirts and dresses over pants. Lots of shear layers with heavy fabrics. all summer I feel like I've been stuck in a tank top so I'm really excited to mix a bunch of fabrics and materials and feel like heavy and kinda witchy?
The use of the belt in the fourth photo is really cool.
Yeah it kinda blew my mind when I first can across it. I also think it would be fun to experiment with webbing or nylon cord or carabineers or keychains. Like a collage
I am still on the double denim bender I have been on since approximately early may. Im planning on picking up the sfc patch pocket denim jacket and the matching patch pocket jeans (already own a pair but i lost so much weight they dont fit well anymore) and layer those over beeg chunky sweaters as my every day uniform. Basically going for a very maritime vibe and giving my non cowboy boots and derby shoes a lil bit of action.
Will be back at uni by autumn and it gets incredibly cold in Lancaster. I’m definitely wanting to wear more patterned jumpers with good quality construction (at least more wool than not wool) as I don’t feel explored them to their fullest extent last year. I’m also looking forward to getting into big coat season and to be able to wear thicker shirts again! Added some of my inspo I’ve gathered so far below.
Also wanting to try use bandanas, ties and scarves. more
Looking forward to finally getting all of my sweaters out of storage. I’ll maybe look to pick up some more sweaters from Howlin, but I already picked up a 10th anniversary sweater on Grailed so I may be tapped out. Inspired by Cure I got a new brown Aran sweater as well so I can finally break it out. Also excited for the new Grandad Coats from De Bonne Facture.
