Duplicate photos
Hey everyone.
Is there a way to use the ML to find duplicates?
I know there is an option to find duplicates, but I believe it only finds exact duplicates. It would be nice to find cropped and resized versions

Ente can detect duplicate photos during uploads, and also has a manual option to remove duplicates across albums. Ente's duplicate detection identifies exact duplicates only. You can find more information at https://help.ente.io/photos/features/deduplicate#deduplicate.

Removing duplicates photos using Ente Photos
Hey, we're working on this feature right now, will be part of the next release 🙂
Amazing!
When is the next Release?:lilducky:
:soon:
I see that this is now available! If Im self hosting, do i need to update the server, or just the app
If you have a question about selfhosting Ente, please check out #self-hosting
Just the app 🙂
When is it possible to use this in Desktop app?
Hey, we don't have a timeline for this right now
Ok 🤔 on the mobile app it works really good 😀
How can I trigger the ML to rescan for similar fotos on Android? I have uploaded a ton of new images yesterday, but te amount of "close" and "related" images remais the same, which is definitely wrong.
New photos will automatically get scanned, you can track the progress in Settings > General > Advanced > Machine learning
I just uploaded a bunch of new photos (5k+) yesterday and there are clear duplicates and "similar" pictures, but none show on the mobile app (iOS) nor the web experience. Is there a way to "force" it?
Similar image detection happens only after these photos have been indexed by machine learning
Could you check the progress on mobile / desktop?
Using the desktop app will offer a significant speed up
Oh I had no idea there was a desktop app? I have been using the iOS app and the web browser on desktop
I have uploaded the photos five days ago and would expect Machine Learning to have had indexed it already but I don’t dee none of them showing up as duplicates or close at all

This will tell you what the status is
Ok so I have installed it on my macbook earlier this morning and up until now I still don’t see anything showing up as duplicates or “close” pictures. There clearly have a bunch.
This is a deal breaker for me. Is there a known issue reported about this and an ETA on a fix?
Could you let us know what the progress within Settings > General > Advanced > Machine learning is?
@vishnu thanks for your support. It shows 100%
and now when you head to Settings > Backup > Free up space > Similar images, are these items getting listed?
@vishnu This is on Desktop. On mobile I get a prompt saying there are no duplicates (there clearly are many, as well as "close" ones).

@vishnu Here is mobile for reference. Same issue.

Please try "Similar images" instead of "Remove duplicates" and check if that gives you useful results?
Already did as I mentioned earlier. Nothing shows up.
Could you try logging out and back in on mobile, then wait for ML to sync back to 100%, and only then try "Similar images" again?
I'm suspecting there might a bug with the caching, and this would fix it for you.
Just don't open "Similar images" until ML is back to 100%
