If you submit a ticket you can ask why you got comm banned and they will send you chat logs of what the offense was, but you can be banned for things other than cursing/swearing/slurs. General toxicity, and especially repeated toxicity is also a reason for many bans, as well as spamming/obnoxious behavior.

It takes a bit for bans to go through, so it doesn't matter what your recent games were, it just matters that you were toxic at some point semi-recently

Yeah, so riot has a relatively strict set of rules on what is a bannable offense. Most people ingame don't report minor things, but some people do, and the more times you get reported, the more likely your account is to be flagged for manual review, and sometimes during these manual reviews they go back to older reports on your account and check those
so even if what you said as of late wasn't significant, if you had older activity that you never recieved moderation for, reports recently can cause those to be reviewed and result in consequences
the last time i remeber some one mad and i said “your singing is soo bad” after there friend said it as a joke obv and that’s it

and you got reported during that match
then any future report can flag you for a manual review
and then they will go back and check and see that, and give you a ban
