The Elder Scrolls Online launcher issues
I tried using older wine-ge versions, installing dotnet48 manually before first launch and adding drive D with path to Heroic's Games directory as suggested in other posts.

Not that I have anything against using it where it works, but why Wine-GE and not Proton-GE?

Because other posts said that Proton doesn't work with ESO. When I tried launching ESO with Proton it gave me an error: Timeout waiting for window to load.
Last I checked the game ran fine with Proton. Could you send in a new log file, using GE-Proton(-latest) & with a clean prefix?

Install
dotnet40 using Winetricks & re-run the gameextended-salmonOP•3mo ago
Didn't help
Gonna need a new game log then

Log still reports .NET isn't installed. Are you sure installing it through Winetricks worked?
extended-salmonOP•3mo ago
Hm yeah that didn't work, although I'm not sure why

Is there anything I can try?
You can try downloading the installer & running that manually (using the "Run EXE in Prefix" button in the game settings)

On a fresh ESO prefix with GE-Proton-Latest. I did not launch the game or install
dotnet40 via winetricks.

When launching on a fresh prefix with Archlinux wine it doesn't have a problem with .NET but still doesn't work.

Well, good news is that I can reproduce the issue

Any progress?

I managed to fix .NET 4 not installing on GE-Proton-Latest by manually creating a wine prefix and installing
dotnet40_kb2468871.
Commands used before launching ESO:
The only problem right now is the timeout error.

This error vanished after installing webview2 manually by running an installer exe on prefix but the game still doesn't launch.

@CommandMC please 😭
I'm not omniscient. I don't know why this issue is happening. Definitely seems like you're looking at least at (1) an issue with dotnet48 not installing properly and (2) an issue with Webview-related components, but I don't know how you'd continue troubleshooting here

Could you please check this log and see if there are any errors you can recognize?
Anything above the referenced message is already fixed.
Maybe I am missing some libraries or my WM is at fault?
The .NET seems to work since there are no errors related to it.
I really don't know what to do. Most people on ProtonDB report no issues/minimal tinkering required 🙁

I found a way to avoid these steps.

I installed a ton of different libraries for wine, games etc and still nothing.
I give up.

Hello. Were you able to find a way to launch it?
More recent GE-Proton versions should have the dotnet48 issue resolved, so this game should work again now. If it doesn't, please send in a game log

Still does not work
