What is proper method to tell RatOS/Klipper about a nozzle diameter size change?
I normally use a CHT 0.6mm nozzle and rarely use a CHT 0.4mm nozzle on my RatRig V3.1.
RatOS V2 Setup asked me the Nozzle Diameter (0.4/0.6...) and Nozzle type (CHT/Regular) and setup the printer.cfg file. I see "variable_has_cht_nozzle: True" under [gcode_macro T0] in printer.cfg. I do not see where the Nozzle Diameter is recorded as it is not in my printer.cfg file. Klipper must know the correct diameter because is mentioned at the bottom of Dashboard/Extruder panel.
I am changing from the 0.6mm nozzle to the 0.4mm nozzle. I have previously ignored changing the RatOS/Klipper diameter and it has never been an issue. I have the following questions: Does it matter if I leave the wrong setting in RatOS/Klipper as long as I make the appropriate change in the SuperSlicer? Where is the nozzle diameter recorded as a result of setting it in the RatOS Setup? Where should I make the diameter change? printer.cfg or somewhere else? I would appreciate any insights into this process.

Are you using ratos 2.0 or 2.1?
I think I am using 2.1. I installed 2.x a while ago and have been doing the updates. Here are version numbers from the Machine/UpdateManager.
RatOS Core: Configurator & Configuration
v2.1.0-RC3-29-g6f87a747
RatOS Core: Theme
v2.1.0-RC3-0-g9f8d27d3
Okay. I think the proper way to do it with 2.1 is to run through the configurator again, just making the change to the nozzle size.
you might be able to get away with adding
to your printer.cfg, but other adjustments may not be automatically done.
like how much to extrude for prime blob
Last time I made an update using the RatOS configurator it wiped out all my tuning and settings in printer.cfg and set them back to some default. This included things like PID calibration, pressure advance, pin assignments, z_offset, input shaper... Some where above the "do not edit" line but others were below. Can I copy the existing info from below the "do not edit" line and paste it below the "do not edit" line after the configurator update is complete? I am concerned that these will be reloaded by RatOS to the original default during some future 'update' without me noticing. I have ordered parts and plan to upgrade to V3.2H and replace the hot end and extruder in the process. I will probably need to go through the configurator/update several times during this update. It would be nice to know if normal updates (like a new z_offset) or configuration/updates come from the current printer.cfg or are recreated from a another source that does not know about my updates. I will try the '[extruder] nozzle_diameter' first. Is there a proper way of informing the RatOS team that this value/info is not being populate in printer.cfg today?
I believe there is an option near the end of the configurator to "save new printer.cfg". If you choose not to do that, it will preserve your changes to the ratos.cfg etc, but leave your printer.cfg alone.
But yes, you can copy/paste the tuning stuff out of the old
Thanks, I did the "save new printer.cfg" last time because I replaced the extruder with a new model. The extruder name and settings are stored somewhere outside the printer.cfg so I figured I should let let configurator do its whole job. Doing "save new printer.cfg" is probably why everything got set back to the defaults. I am still hoping that I can actually cut and past below the "do not edit" line successfully assuming that I don't change the [headings] and structure of the what is copied.
Thanks, I will do the copy/paste after my future configuration/updates.
Best of luck, let us know how it goes!
