Is there a way to change the OS specific version of a game in Heroic?

Hi, I installed Silksong in its Windows version cause the Linux native gave me controller issues. I saw that they released a public-beta channel and I would like to see if that fixes the issue. So the question is, is there a way to change the OS specific version? For example, in steam you just have to turn off the complatibility layer and it automatically selects the native version for you. Thank you

I think no

you have to reinstall the game and pick the linux version

Tho addition of that to modify install option would be nice

I don't know if it makes sense to simply modify the installation, like... what does that even mean? linux native build can be completely different than the windows build, different files, different structure, different directories it expects because I can only imagine a modify install option to actually uninstall the game and install it again with the other version, that would be the safest option

You would be modifying installation when you want to change from Windows to Linux build

Like how adding dlc is also that

but I mean, what would that mean behind the scenes? uninstall the current version and install the other version?

Yes, nuke X platform build, download Y platform build Like how steam does

because I imagine people getting confused by something like that if they lose their saves for example, expecting the modify installation to keep the settings/saves, and that sounds really tricky to do (specially since we don't have information about saves for linux at all, and only about saves for games with cloud saves for windows/mac)

If modify install requested by user, do not nuke prefix kinda behaviour would solve it

but then the user has to manually copy settings and saves, right?

From Linux build to Windows? Yes Or vice versa That is also like that on Steam if game doesnt have cloud saves

right, that's what I'm worried of a feature like that partially automated, users would expect it to be fully automated

Meh, even behemoth Valve cant pull that off so Heroic not doing that also is fine 🐸

(that's what I would expect at least if heroic tells me I can modify it)

Current way of " delete game and redownload" is more risky because user might not know what a prefix and dont read what this says and what it potentially includes and can nuke that

in steam it checks all files, deletes those not present in the target version and redownloads those with different checksums or totally absent it would suffice to just put a notice before confirming it saying that save files would have to be manually moved to a new folder and to make a backup first
