in the app, you can go to settings > backup > free up space > manage device cache to see what's taking up so much space. on the same screen, you can also clear the cache.

Thank you, should i do this manually every now and then? okay i'm confused, does the "free up space" option delete the images from the local storage? cause i don't want that, i just want to remove the local data from the app that's 40+GB

We encrypt the files youre uploading - in this process the encrypted file is stored in local storage before its uploaded. After a few days that cache would get cleared on its own (new cache would also build up like thumbnails, previews, etc so you dont have to wait for every image to be downlaoded, decrypted and loaded). If you want you can clear the cache manually like suggested above Also, please dont tag. Someone would definitely reply after seeing the messages. Please be patient with the team

Would suggest you to delete photos that have been backed up from your local gallery. You can do this in the Ente app by going to Settings -> Backup -> Free Up Space -> Free up device space This would create some room in the local storage. Once the backup is done, you cant download them again to have it available locally Let me know if that helps

the solution you've provided is helpful, yet with all due respect is ridiculous, i'd hope if i was warned before hand of such a thing, so i don't upload 50+ GBs all at once

Yeah, we have plans to improve on this mechanism Once its uploaded, they would start getting cleared
