Nvidia HDMI audio sinks switching names

In gnome and kde, depending on the order displays are plugged in, sound outputs (audio sinks i believe) seem to get named in the order that the sink is available, so depending on how devices come up, it seems like the outputs aren't always the same or appear to switch as far as the user is concerned.

How can we improve the UX of the nvidia sound output names?
