Self hosted server behind CGNAT
Is there a service that has you install a client server side that then punches a tunnel through your isp's restrictions (like ngrok) so that players can connect to your server without you having to port forward?
I have gotten a desktop that I can finally use to make a server. (gaming is a pain on it but as a server it is good)
Now I am hitting restrictions with the fact that my stupid isp doesn't allow port forwarding. I've seen people on reddit talk about how much of a pain it was to get their public IP and not behind whatever CGNAT is.
I tried playit.gg and that thing has the worst ping ever.
ngrok works fine until the 1GB outgoing limit.
I want to somehow get past all of this without spending money (I mean all of this for a guy that just wants to play minecraft multiplayer?). No aternos and other hosting services I have tried and they are handicapped in terms of hardware.
I tried to use cloudflared but that thing wants to point to a real domain, that which I gotta pay money for just to keep one up.

If it's just for friends maybe try radmin
Otherwise you have to port forward
My question is, why you upset about paying for a domain? I use cloudflare for a domain and it costs me 12 bucks a year for my own personal domain. If you do go down that route, if you are running Linux with software like amp, you side load a ddns updater for cloudflare so when your ip changes, it automatically gets updated in cloudflare
It is normally hands off if you set it up properly in cloudflare but there is a tutorial and guide on a forum
I think if money wasn't an issue he would've just bought a host instead of trying to self host
I mean fair but I had money but I didn't want to use a host because of limitations they have
but you probably would have paid for port forwarding too then
CGNAT is usually solvable through your internet service provider tell them you want a static ip and you don't want to be behind a cgnat
Or use a vpn same result but could lag
Ngrok has a limit?? I never encountered this using e4mc or just ngrok generally
1 gb outbound, it is very small
Oh okay, never hit the limit with 15 players😕
dawg some of us have parents that won't let us use money regardless of age until we start earning ourselves. I'd start jan next year but until then there is nothing I can do
plus this game is made for children
we shouldnt expect them to have money if they have parents as such
I have big globe on my server so it would hit it pretty fast
Heard from a lot of other people using my isp. in one word: pain
they had to go back and fourth taking weeks and maybe a month or 2 sometimes for their case to be straight up dismissed.
I dont want to wait 2 months just to test if i can run a minecraft server before I hit another massive wall
cloudflare has HTTP and HTTPS for web stuff but apparently tcp is behind the paywall that spectrum is
rn trying out tailscale. Only thing is that my guys from that discord gotta install the tailscale client which is fine because you need to download 225 mods to join my server anyway
Nope. Only base 1gbps internet
Huh. Odd because I can do it just fine using the dns rules to make it work
huh how?
did you have to use any like external domain that you paid for to use with cloudflare or?
yea my isp is gonna be a pain to talk to but im gonna attempt that now
No. I just bought a domain with them and I used the dns rules to make it work
11 to 12 bucks a year abd it can be used for more than minecraft too
ah, well too bad freenom and dot.tk are down bruh
Oof
Well it is still good pricing for a domain
wish I could spend my money lol
Max 3 users
Tailscale is 3 users before payment
good to know
i tried zrok which techincally seems like the best option but practically is inconvenient
we gotta have them run a batch file everytime they need to run minecraft and it might look sketchy to them
Got playit.gg to work somehow
Solution
I used the tcp port and turned on warp 1.1.1.1 on my server
so yea no more ping issues
