Missing dates after upload
Hi all - I used immich-go to upload almost 30k pictures from windows to a docker running on UNRAID.
Everything went fairly smooth, but I noticed a few HEIC files (10?) are sorted by the upload date, not date taken. (They are recent, all within the last year - taken with an Iphone). Several older photos do not have metadata - I need to look into these - but I know the recent HEIC files had accurate metadata.
Is there a way to update this information with doing it manually? Any suggestions to troubleshoot and avoid a repeat? (I'm trying to find the immich-go log, but can't easily locate it on the windows machine).

Successfully submitted, a tag has been added to inform contributors. :white_check_mark:How do you know they have accurate metadata?
If the date is right on the phone, then that's not confirmation because you need to confirm it's in the downloaded one 🙂
How do I validate date metadata, now they are in the upload directory? They appear to be duplicates, one in an external library with the correct date, and a copy 2x the size in the upload, showing the upload date (according to the GUI). All are .MOV (not HEIC) files and there are about 30. I'm trying to figure out how it happened so I can avoid it in the future.
Are you sure you did not accidentally upload the thumbs folder or something?
What is your compose/env? 🙂
sorry for the delay responding. I'm running docker via unraid, so not sure what compose data to provide. I think when I uploaded from windows via immich-go, it included an icloud photos directory in the upload. so I now have an external library (icloud photos pulled from icloud to unraid), and also icloud files uploaded from the windows icloud service. for some reason, some of the date taken info was changed. I may delete them from immich once I confirm they are dups. other suggestions to fix would be appreciated. thanks for the help.
We have a built-in dupe finder 👀
and yes upload from iOS might strip metadata, very annoying
thanks! does the dup finder compare to external libraries or just uploads? oddly, it's only .mov files.
It should do both to my knowledge
thanks so much.
