Issue: Xbox Controller / Thrustmaster Wheel Not Working in Games on Desktop Bazite
Setup:
• Laptop: NVIDIA GTX 860 → controller works in Steam and in games.
• Desktop: NVIDIA Titan X → controller works in Steam (Xbox button opens Overlay), but no input is detected in games.
Context:
• Both systems were freshly installed with Bazite for a clean comparison.
• Goal is to have the controller (and later wheel) work in games on desktop the same way as on laptop.
What’s been tried:
1. Verified controller is recognized in Steam and system (lsusb, Steam Overlay).
2. Tried multiple Proton versions: Experimental, Proton GE, older stable releases.
3. Tested Steam Input settings: forced on, forced off, default.
4. Checked Controller Layout in Steam Overlay – overlay sees Xbox button, but buttons/axes not detected in game.
5. Confirmed Flatpak permissions via Flatseal (access to /dev/input).
6. Tested controller with jstest – works in system.
7. Reinstalled Bazite multiple times – problem persists.
Observation:
• Laptop works perfectly.
• Desktop only sends input to Steam Overlay; game does not detect it.

• Get controller (and later Thrustmaster wheel) working in games on desktop Bazite, matching laptop behavior.
