chunky+dh doesnt work like i thought it wwould
I thought it would just render everything around me without me having to wwalk there but its kinda NOT doing that and i thought by using xaeros map and those two that i would be able to see biomes around me but the map only unlocks wherever i go and so do the lods render.

Ah, you're here. Anyways, Distant Horizons + Chunky is a no-go. See the following:
!chunky
Using Chunky to pregenerate for DH is not recommended for several reasons.
The first one is the swiss cheese that might show up when using chunky while DH is installed.
The second reason is that it's pointless, as DH has a build in pregenerator that is better integrated than chunky:
- It saves space by only storing LODs, not normal chunks
- It is faster to use DH's pregenerator to generate the LODs than first using chunky to generate the normal chunks, and then using DH to convert the normal chunks to LODs
- It is part of DH, and therefore always/only called when DH needs it
- Chunky calculates it's radius in blocks, confusing the user if they are not aware of this
Distant Horizons' built-in LOD pregenerator is enabled by default, and can be sped up or slowed down by changing the
Cpu Load in DH's settings, or disabled by turning off Distant Generation.
If you want to pregenerate both LODs and normal chunks, set the Distance Generator Mode to Full under Advanced, World Generator. This will of course take up quite a lot more storage space. Make sure you have C2ME installed if you want to use Full, as the generation speed will be crap if you don't.
Note, this also applied to other similar pregeneration mods.If you need chunks to be saved, change generation mode from "Features" to "Full - Saves Chunk".
See !generators
- FEATURES: Complete generation of all LODs with mostly correct structures and trees. Does not save vanilla chunks, and is much faster than FULL unless C2ME is installed.
- FULL: Generates and saves both DH LODs and vanilla chunks, has 100% correct LODs, because it also saves vanilla chunks it takes the most amount of drive space. Generation speed will suck unless C2ME is installed.
- PRE-EXISTING: Generates LODs for all existing vanilla chunks.
i clicked how to use distant horizons on yt and FIRST video suggested chunky with it and said c2m was bad
Those videos are now outdated.
bruh
can u just tell me
how to uh
just have a wide ahh chunk thingy
so xaeros map shows the entire around me area
C2ME issues has been resolved, whereas Chunky issue is caused by how Distant Horizons responds to its operation.
so remove chunky?
Yes.
ight
and how to get chunks to load even when i havent been there?
Make sure you have distant generation enable
Then when on singleplayer they will just load with time
When on server
!server
DH won't be able to generate LODs for chunks outside the vanilla render distance unless DH is installed on the server (DH 2.3.0+). Instead, as you travel around the world, LODs will be generated for areas you've visited.
If DH is installed on the server, it will work just like in singleplayer, gradually pregenerating chunks around the player. The server also has access to the
/dh pregen start <dimension> <origin> <chunkRadius> command, useful when you want to pregen without anyone online.

!slowgen
World generation in general is quite slow and world gen mods can slow it down even more. If you want to speed it up:
Install Noisium, Lithium and C2ME. These mods can improve generation speed by a bit, but it will still not be fast.
Increase
To see if
CPU Load in Distant Horizons settings for faster generation, but you will experience more lag spikes and stuttering due to heavier workload on CPU. You are not required to wait for the full generation to finish, although it is better for fps if you do.
To see if
Distant Generator is really working or not:
1) Check CPU usage while in-game, using Aggressive settings of CPU Load. If CPU usage's hovering around 80-100%, the LoDs are generating in the background.
2) Go to DH settings > Advanced Options > Debug > Wireframe, set Enable Debug Wireframe Rendering and Show World Gen Queue to True.
Enabling both settings will show you the visualization of world gen tasks queued and working on the map (blue boxes for queued tasks, red boxes for working tasks)it doesnt
xaeros map stays the same
i have it enabled
its whatever forget it
I don't think Xaeros can read DH LoDs, thy would need to add special DH support
You can try switching the generation mode to FULL, and deleate your current LODs to save both the LODs and vanilla Chunks
But still IDK if Xaeros will be able to read it all

If there are, all 3 should be treated as a single file, a.k.a. moved, deleted, backed-up always together!
If you don't, the database will become corrupted. To see if the DH generation is running your can do the second part
bruh the dh is just not working the end city been like this for 5 minutes like exactly

the thing u said doesnt work i enabled both and it just doesnt show anything for progress or whatever @Miki_P98
your shaders fog is probably covering stuff up
it i not
is
the rest of the stuff only loads when i go there
its so bunz cuz im tryna use dh to find end city
u can tell from xaeros map

We can’t tell from Xaeros map, as Xaeros does not read DH generated LODs
Disable shaders and show SS of ungenerated terrain in the overworld, the boxes should be much more visible in that scenario
it just dont work
wwhy do i need to go somewhere in front of me for dh to render it
all the wireframe things dont show progress or anuthing
What does show up when you enable Show LOD Gen/Import Progress?
And what happens when you fly up and stant still
No PC can keep up with elytra flying speed on non already generated worlds
nothing
it just stays unloaded like that unless i go there
its aternos fault it works on other worlds
:harold:
Aternos servers are not suitable for Distant Horizons so, yeah...
why?
what server should i use to play with friends then
Anything that's not Aternos.
like?
e4mc, worldhost
are these better and free?
they let you host your local world without any of the annoying port forwarding
whats that
don't worry about it
you won't need port forwarding
so its irrelevant
so use one of those?
e4mc or worldhost
you install them and then you can you can host the local world you have for others to join
ok
