Getting "Name or service not known" when pinging domain

When I ping pay.bardo.host or stats.bardo.host it returns "name or service not known". This was not an issue a few days ago. The DNS records are pointing to servers that are operational. Even AWS SES is reporting that it isn't able to look up MX records. I also double checked nameservers and they are correct. My domain registrar and Cloudflare are both reporting that the domain is active. I've never seen such an issue before. Is anyone else having similar issues?

There is a “serverHold” status on that domain. “serverHold” literally means that your domain is suspended. -> https://icann.org/epp#serverHold You need to contact your registrar to get that sorted out.

This is the first time something like this has ever happened to me. I've sent out a request for unsuspension. I got automated response with reasoning being: "where the Registered Name is found to have been registered as part of a set of any pattern-based registration that has shown abusive trends in the past or is part of a present or ongoing abusive campaign, including but not limited to domains registered using any domain generation algorithms, scripts, dictionaries, etc., whether detected by Radix or a registrar;"" Which none of that is true. I didn't use an algorithm to register the domain, nor is it being used for any kind of abusive ways. It doesn't even have anything that was publicly accessible. Has anyone experienced something like this? What are my chances of getting it even unsuspended? My registrar (Dynadot) support had no idea for reasoning either as they said they didn't get any notification as to why it was put under serverHold. They suggested I contact Radix which I am guessing owns the .host TLD

Yep, a "clientHold" status would be set by the domain registrar (e.g. Dynadot), where a "serverHold" would be set by the domain registry (e.g. Radix). However, the only way you normally have for "fixing" such issues, are to contact Dynadot, as they are your registrar. Dynadot would literally act as the middleman in the communication, - you <-> Dynadot <-> Radix. As you relation is with Dynadot, and not with Radix, you normally don't have any ways to go directly to Radix, but will require Dynadot to escalate the issue, and to be communicating with the domain registry, on your behalf.

Ah understood. I am confused as to why Dynadot directed me to Radix in this case. Snippet directly from support chat with Dynadot. [Dynadot]: ok, it looks like the domain does have a serverHold placed by the Central Registry. I don't see any notifications from them yet, so they either did not send it or it still hasn't arrived. [Dynadot]: You will need to reach out to them directly as the domain owner, to request the hold be removed, here is their contact page for unsuspension: https://abuse.radix.website/unsuspension
Request Unsuspension | Radix Registry
If your Radix domain has been suspended, submit a request for unsuspension.

Should I request Dynadot to contact Radix? Or leave it be and wait for Radix response

I wasn't aware that Radix had a such form, but yeah, I'd say go ahead and fill it out, and hope for the best.

What are even my chances of getting unsuspended? Have you had any experience with serverHold suspensions?

Dynadot clearly mentions "as the domain owner" though, - but one of the typical things that are causing problems, will be that that a third party supplier (e.g. Radix) often won't have enough details available, to verify that you are actually the domain registrant, or has proper authorization, to act on behalf of the domain registrant. It depends on how and why the domain was suspended, and so forth. Only the domain registrar (and/or registry) will be able to give you bulletproof information there.

I am sure it is a mistake, I bought the domain 15 days ago. Added two DNS records and MX record pointing AWS SES. Nothing was even publicly accessible. Nothing even related to "abusive". I am more worried as to how much they "care" to do anything about it. I'll try to contact Dynadot support again and request to be my middle man. Thank you so much for quick response and information on the matter! Got a response from Radix! "We have currently unsuspended the domain name. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused . Please note that the domain name was suspended based on our proactive analysis where similar pattern domains were reported and suspended for abuse. There is a possibility that such domain names could affect our TLD reputation." Was really worried for a moment, again thank you for pointing me into the right direction!

You're welcome! Happy to hear it went well, and was resolved so quickly!
