How do I give permission to Heroic on CatchyOS (Solved Kinda)
I use to use linux mint and a wierd issue I had was that what ever I did I could not run Proton GE and Wine GE never worked, even stuff like Run Installer first. Later I found out I was suppose to give it permission using Flatseal and that solved my poblem in Linux Mint. Now I just shifted to CachyOS and I am worried I might have the same issue so I want to make sure It doesn't happen again. I just trying to try out stuff from Itch

you only need to set flat seal permissions if you dont use heroic's standard folder locations.. and only if you use heroic flatpak
if these arent true, then it should be fine

I....did that in linux mint
I wanted to create prefixes in my HDD which was 1tb and not in my NVME which I kept for important stuff
so I change the locations for CachyOS too but looks like there doesn't seems to be an issue
so I guess it counts as problem solved

if you didnt install the flatpak version of heroic then you dont need flatseal

Lessons learned
from what I've heard atleast, flap pack are better
because they don't effect the actual OS
so less likely to break things
so I thought it was a good idea

i mean.. thats.. not exactly right
but yes flatpaks are sandboxed so the're a bit more secure, they also come with all the needed libraries, but the consequence is you have to handle some permissions issues typically

This explains why I couldn't get Bottles and Lutris to work either
and here I was thinking I was just unlucky
or had a bad hardware combination

if they're installed on the system, its a bit better in terms of programs working together, but you lose the sandbox, and if your systme doesnt supply the right dependencies for the app things might not work

slowly but surely I am understanding the system
