Are you familiar with that circle of illumination wala concept? Ki matlab a fish can only see a circular portion of what's outside Similarly now the bulb is the fish and glass is the water Only the stuff inside that circle (in this case semicircle) can go out of the glass cube And other stuff gets reflected. From a visual standpoint
