CPU overheating spiking to over 90-95 degrees whenever I let the game load new LODs

Ye basically my CPU just spikes 30-35 degrees over the average 55-65 C to like 90-95 and even shuts down my pc for overheating. From what I understand this happens whenever I try to load new lods with the mod aka creating a world or even rendering real chunksas I am exploring the world. I've also tried capping my fps to 60 or even putting the threading to like 2-4 cores and 0.1 util and yet it still happens

and the thing is that most of the time the utilization is around 35-40 % and yet I still get these temps or sometimes at random I the utilization spikes from 25% to like 70% in a second and the temperatures from 50 to 90 degrees and then it goes back down

try running a cpu benchmark and see if it still happens its probably a problem with your pc, not with DH

this is the highest temps I got running cinebench at 100 util on my pc

and I have seen mc go higher than that even hitting 100 degrees once this cannot be normal and also I do not have this kind of problem with any other game or even vanilla mc and neither have I had any game or benchmark even turn my pc off due to overheating of the CPU @Puhpine (UTC +2) @Yeshi (GMT+2) @Yeshi (GMT+2) @Yeshi (GMT+2)

You dont have to ping random mods you know It seems to indeed be a problem with your pc As the temperature was still very high with cinebench And DH can hit the cpu like a benchmark can, for world generation

This is normal DH can be extremely heavy if you configure it to be Even if you configure DH to only use a few cores, those few cores are gonna be really hot. If you cap out at your thermal limit that probably means your thermal solution is just not good enough

ye sorry for that I just thought I could ping a mod if they have no problem with it ye but cinebench is stressing the CPU at 99% and gets lower temps than that I dunno man I will look into the hardware side, perhaps put new thermal paste clean everything again. I just find it strange that I do not get such high temps with even triple A titles on the highest graphics yet my pc somehow can't run mc lol

he had it in his description, and I went ham I guess I am just underestimating the stress that minecraft has on the CPU would undervolting maybe help with that?

probably but try a repaste first

You can try Prime95 on Small FFTs, all core + hyper-threading This and DH are the 2 heaviest programs I know of The % usage is not very good indicator, you know if the CPU is doing anything, but not exactly what isn’t is doing. Doing a 100% addition, multiplication, division or other instructions will all give different results

got it thank you I ll check it out tomorrow

You can also just lower the CPU load preset in DH, but I agree that this is not DH's fault A program should never be able to do anything to abnormally heat your CPU, even if it is written with malicious intent. So high tempts simply mean that you have an undersized cooling solution, or a problem with the cooling solution you have.

found out what the problem was basically I had overclocked my CPU to a fixed speed and that was throwing my temperatures way of. I haven't realized it earlier because I had done it while it was winter and the temps were way cooler but these speeds in summer seem to be maxxing out my pc

lmao that makes more sense
