Ways of reducing internet data usage?

Hi, my server has limited data usage each month, and seems to be running out just before the end of the month, so I need to slightly reduce usage. Chat GOT suggested lowering render distance and network compression threshold. Any other ideas? Could some plugins be using a lot, like Bluemap? I installed Netlimiter and the Minecraft server seems to be using about 1MB/s which seems a little high for Minecraft.

why does it have a data cap? if its your host capping your bandwidth usage, get a new host

i dont know. thats just what the provider decided i guess. it's 1TB per month. I can get more actually, but I have to pay a fair biut more

no. its rackspace in another state. my hardware is there, so it will be too much effort moving it. Servers Australia.

ahh tbh you cant really control how much data its using its variable

id rather just see if i can reduce internet usage by like 5% instead of driving across australia, picking it up, and taking it somewhere else

ig dropping render distance can work, tho i dont think its gunna drop it 5% you could close the server during very offpeak hours which would probs do that but thats just not fun for your players if they wanna play at a specific time

yeah i like keeping it 24/7, and it looks way better to potential players if there's no players on at a certain time, it wouldnt be using internet would it? also, is there a way to see how much each plugin is using?

plugins dont increase usage to a degree thats noticable compared to a vanilla server they dont send packets very often that the server doesnt just send already it still uses some sort of internet but not much

what about bluemap? plugins that host their own webUI would, wouldnt they?

yeah that would pretty much always be outputting data ig probs is kinda expensive to do idk not had a limit on how much bandwidth i got a month so never checked how much maps like that did
