KDE Performance on certain windowed applications is extremely laggy.
I moved from using the GNOME graphical interface to KDE as I was having that common issue where the mouse will go off the screen to a secondary monitor when playing a game. Only reason I'm bringing this up is because this issue was not present on there but is here.
The issue I'm having is where some applications are laggy while others are not. For an example I could use FIreFox, Google Chrome or playing a game and its completely fine. But two applications which i use that are having this slowdown is Steam and Discord. If anyone knows if I'm doing something wrong or if there is a fix it would be much appreciated!

You will likely need to reinstall.
Switching DEs with rebasing is not encouraged nor supported with mention of this in the docs. It causes lots of conflicting configuration files that will be very difficult to clean.
I didnt rebase I reinstalled KDE twice
Okay when you said moved the assumption was a rebase. Did you bring your entire home directory including configs? That would have the same effect of weirdness.
No I just reinstalled everything, decided that transferring would probably not be a good idea.
Okay good so you didn't perform a rebase.
Nvidia? Yeah nvidia
Apparently nvidia has a bug with gnome's VRR right now which is why the newer installs have it disabled.
I think there's a fix in the pipeline.
But no idea on estimate
Well I'm on KDE with this refresh rate or whatever problem with some applications. I know my friend who has an almost identical system as mine (5090 too) but doesn't have the same problem as me. So weird
Nvidia has ghosts.
I swear
Well by chance I figured out why the UI was laggy.. uhh multiple monitor support caused it. What a weird bug
So the issue had to do with how X11 handled scaling... when you had 2 monitors with the same resolution but different scaling between them because the monitor sizes were different.
X11 what?
bazzite only really supports wayland & x11 apps on Wayland by using Xwayland
X11 doesn't control the display or anything
Ok I must have been mistaken, under display settings for x11 legacy apps it had two ways of handling scaling. In my case on a Nvidia card if two displays with the same resolution but had different scaling percentages on both monitors would cause discord and steam and most likely other apps to lag significantly. Only when I set the scaling to let's say 145% on both monitors did the lag stop.
