Are these the right fit?
Ordered these Amazon “slim fit” chinos (size 40/28). I’m 5’7”. Imo these are too long and too wide. Need these for work on Thursday when my new CEO visits the office… What do you guys think?

these fit very normal
you can hem them to a half or no break if you want but that's a pretty normal length
too wide? my wife and I saw them and started laughing.
there's just a lot of room throughout the whole leg
also would that amount of stacking be appropriate for a CEO visit?
i think it's just wide if you're using to slim tapered, but its a standard slim straight cut. That amount of stacking is fine but you can either hem them/fabric tape them, or internal cuff them if you want a cleaner look
yeah these are allegedly "slim fit". tbf all of my best fitting pants have been hemmed/tapered, I just don't have time to take them somewhere.
they look fine, you can cuff them inwards if you want it a bit cleaner
just fold them inwards
I'll give this a shot. I'll prob just hem or fold/iron and pray for the best
I'm not used to anything super loose-fitting/baggy at all
I hate any amount of stacking/free space in my pants lol
i wouldnt worry about these looking baggy or unprofessional if thats your concern. the cut is still on the slim side (not that wider cuts are by default unprofessional but ykwim)
ugh damn I haven't seen anybody wear anything less than a proper slim/tapered in my office so this feels out of place lol
your ceo might respect the difference
I doubt he would care... it's moreso of a personal feeling lol
your ceo will likely not remember your fit the moment they walk out the door
the company i work for is only like 200 ppl
id def remember someone with some goofy ass parachute pants
in a pinch fold and then safety pin from the inside to secure it
applies still. i work at smaller and would say the same
those do not resemble parachute pants?
these are in no way shape or form close to parachute pants i promise you
thats all in your head, respectfully
i work at a smaller business and my ceo truly does not care
im just basing it off what I see and wear daily 😭
these are a pretty standard and conventional cut of pants
the wear daily part is key. very very very common to feel weird or off when trying new cuts but i promise thats a personal bias and not reality
the first time i tried wearing true straight and wide cuts i thought i looked like a clown but i in fact did not. and yours are definitely still slim
idk the stacking/poofyness looks a bit messy imo
maybe I'm used to a more conservative style/workplace idk lol
well then get new pants i guess
the stacking is due to how long and narrow the pants are more than anything
shorter pants with a bigger leg opening = no stacks
if you cant trust the clothing nerds in the clothing nerd subreddit then you might be best suited to follow your own gut
How would I fix this? hemming I assume?

or folding in
or cuffing but that may not be the best option given the context
bro my legs are tiny as hell goddamn
nah not rlly
this is 28" inseam allegedly
theres also rise to account for in that but anywho
off the rack clothing sizes are lies sometimes especially amazon, a brand that mainly wants profits
These have 0 rise. They sit on/below waist (i cannot remember what the product description said)
that's not your fault it's the shitty corporation
fold the pants inward a couple inches and either hem tape or safety pin or iron afterwards
buy some new pants if this is a recurring issue; there are pants that exist that fit you without the stacks or breaks
does one of yall happen to have an image showing what these should fit like? I wanna make sure I don't hem too high up.
theres no real way things should fit
depends on what you want, if you want 0 pant touching shoe thats called no break, and you can tweak your fold before ironing and post here again if you’re still unsure
hem by 1" for half break, hem by 2" for no break
if ur going through a tailor/seamstress theyll just pin it for u before hand so u can see the length
heres an idea but its best to try yourself

or if you don't have a ruler, put on your work shoes and fold one hem up until you like how it looks; use that as a guide to fold the other inward, and then straighten the hems out before ironing, pinning, etc
I can hem myself, I've just never tapered so I don't wanna mess up these pants lol
I'll try folding and send yall some pics 1 min
No fold

Folded 2 hems up

2 hems is ~1.75”
much better!
how do you feel
This is what I’m used to wearing

looks very similar
Yeah the cuff is a bit more tapered tho.
maybe an extra quarter inch on the fold if you want to get nitpicky but i think you should be happier with these ones now
I think I gotta trust and just keep wearing until I’m used to the look lol
absolutely. we assure you its fine
But I personally think the 1.75-2” fold is better so I’m gonna rock that
good call. godspeed :)
Thanks for the help fellas
2” hem looks and feels great! Thanks again guys.
