unsatisfied with my V-Minion print quality (VFA, ringing, z inconsitencies)
After some (quite major) upgrades I still find myself preferring printing on my old prusa bear opposed to the V-minions. I own 4 minion and would like to print with similar quality on them as on the bear, so i can give that old printer away and only use klipper printers which i can monitor remotely. Note that these prints were done with extremely conservative speeds; prusa mk3 presets (perimeters ~50mm/s). (also tested faster speeds but they are worse even)
it is mainly an VFA issue i think. I notice the motion on the bear seems smoother; when i move x and y on the minion i feel a minor vibration which isn't present in the bear. Could upgrading to for example 42STH48-2804AH help here?
some upgrades ive done;
-dual Z rails
-hiwin rails on all axis
-oldham
they should all add to the stiffness/precision but im still not happy with the results :/. I also played with various belt tensions, motor amps (performance mode seems to make it worse?), solid coupler instead of spider coulper and probably even more that i cant think of right now, but with no luck so far. I am suspicious of the motors themselves.. they seem to vibrate quite significantly and that could very well be the source I think. Besides that I am considering gettin genuine gates belts.
For Z i don't know what i could be, dual Z with a high quality POM oldham decoupler should work. I will try lubricating the axis even thought this should not be necessary with POM nuts.
any tips are greatly appreciated 🥸

what speed do you print those at?
v-minion doesn't like speeds under 200mms
