meermin sizing waxy commander chelsea (516054)

I've never owned chelseas or even waxy commander shoes/boots, so I'm not sure what to expect in terms of how much the width will stretch vs just going 1/2 size up. I'm contemplating going up from 9.5 to 10.
I got the chelsea boots and have walked around indoors a bit while wearing thick (or double layering) socks to try and speed up the stretching.
width: originally they were very tight, especially in ball girth. They've loosed up quite a bit, but the pinky toes still rub a bit on the sides.
length: I have just about 2cm of space in front of my big toe. The heel is pretty snug. Can't fit my finger between my heel and the shoe without smooshing it, but it's also not difficult to slip on.
The last chart says insole length goes up by 4.3 mm. I feel like that's a lot and might be too long, but I guess it wouldn't be 4.3 mm longer in the heel so I don't really know. Any advice appreciated since I have no idea what I'm doing.

do they have removable insoles? if so, take them out and put your foot on them. see how much overspill there is on the sides. Its not perfect but it will help work out how much leather would need to stretch to feel comfortable
my sense is you should also be able to fit your thumb without smushing it, so if your not able to, then you can probably cope with the extra length
yeah, it comes with 2 insoles with different thickness. Can you explain wearing them without insoles? You mean to see if the sole itself is wide enough?
I was reading conflicting things about the heel fit. Like some people saying ideally there's no slippage, and other people saying some slippage is fine, because the boot will mold to your foot and stop it. Then the whole "how it should sound" when you put your foot in thing.
I guess it's kind of difficult to answer, because 1 mm of length in the insole doesn't mean you get 1 mm of length in the heel
i wouldnt wear boots where my pinky toe rubbed thatd be enough for me to size up
yeah was considering going to a cobbler to stretch them, but if my heel shouldn't be touching the boot to the point that i have to smoosh finger a bit to get it in, then maybe I need to go up 1/2 a size anyway
yeah so you compare your foot against the insole to see the size difference. I would agree with the other person that sizing up seems the best option based on what you've shared
Idk if you went in person but when I went they tried to steer me toward really tight sizes. Not really sure why. I did end up a half size below my usual bannock size, but they were trying to get me to go a full size down.
Do you know your brannock? Or did you size yourself via sneakers? Or drawing your feet outline on an A4 piece of paper and measurements the longest point to point from heel to toes

Check that thread from earlier today
i tried the paper method, but it seemed really inconsistent for me.
I'm usually 44.5/45 in EU sneakers, but I know those usually run larger compared to leather.
Believe it or not, I went to a few stores around me to use their brannock, but no one had one -.-
but it's 10 euro to exchange sizes, so I guess the worst case is 20 euro if I want to go back to the 9.5
Giving specific feedback: personally I'm ok with a bit of heel roll with elastic footwear (Chelsea boots like RM Williams and Blundstone, and low cut doc martens boots).
However your mention of your pinky toe being squished could mean it's too small and/or the last might be too narrow around the toes for you
basically i have never had to break in leather shoes or anything, so I'm trying to figure out how tight it should actually be. The heel is tight enough to where it only moves a tiny amount when I walk, but it's moving because of my sock sliding and not my actual heel. My pinky toe touches the shoe, and I wasn't if it would be fine after breaking in fully. I already have like 2 cm of space in the toe length, so I was worried about a 1/2 size bigger being too long
and i read that waxy commander both breaks in really fast, and that it doesn't stretch that much
Does the widest part of the boot line up with the widest part of your foot
pretty close yeah
thanks for all the advice everyone
