No GPU usage in game (Radeon HD 6670, Ryzen 5600X, MSI B550 Tomahawk)
Hey there, I've been enjoying my Steam Deck so far so I've decided to make a new "budget" Steam OS build.
I found a good deal on a second hand AM4 kit (Ryzen 5600X, MSI B550 Tomahawk, 16Go DDR4); and I had an old AMD Radeon HD 6670 waiting to be used until I can find a cheap RX 6700 / RTX 4060.
So far, Bazzite installed flawlessly, but when starting DayZ or other games, the stats are displaying 0% GPU usage and 0/0Gb VRAM.
What did I miss? Tried using the latest Proton GE version without success, Proton-Sarek as well with the below launch options, but still without success.

oh dear⦠that's the kind of card that you would add to your system for display output, it doesn't even support Vulkan
Indeed it doesn't support Vulkan, hence the idea to use an older Proton version, but I'm really not sure what to use here
also if you're shopping for a new gpu, i strongly don't recommend 8GB, it's barely enough for modern gaming at all any more. Aim for at least 12gb or 16gb
it will last you far longer than an 8GB card since games keep requiring more VRAM, even at 1080p
the 7600xt for example has 16gb, or the 9060 XT 16gb
yeah I'm aiming for a RX 6800 at least but second hand GPUs with a correct price are scarce for now ( π«π· )
How are you measuring performance though?
Steam's built in performance monitor (FPS, CPU/GPU/RAM usage) and
mangohud %command% in my launch optionsMangoHUD fails to record data on many hardware components so if you are using that you should go ask them
For steam overlay data this is likely the best place to ask
In any case, mangohud says 0% usage and Steam doesn't even detect RAM (0/0Gb)
which leads me to think the GPU isn't used at all, even tho I get ~10 fps in the menu ?
it's possible it's using llvmpipe
can you try expanding the mangohud overlay to full?

it probably won't launch without openGL translation
removed all compatibility options to use the default proton
yea now it's using software render
because your gpu doesn't support vulkan
does it need to though? what about DX11?
look at the usage of all your cpu cores

software render is a fallback render solution, you don't want this to be used in games ever
there must be a way to set the launch options to not use Vulkan (nor OpenGL) but DX10/11/12 right?

linux doesn't support directx though
only openGL and Vulkan

that's the problem with these old GPUs with no Vulkan support, you're limited to only openGL

honestly i doubt this game will be playable
you're so far below the minimum requirements which is a geforce 760 or a r9 270x
keep in mind this gpu is from 2011, and the game you're trying to play is from 2018

it doesn't have enough compute and not enough memory and it's one of the worst recorded gpus by tpu

or maybe ujust configure-nvidia if thatβs whatβs available on the market at that time
if you swap to nvidia you will have to rebase to a nvidia image
you don't need to reinstall
Another issue actually, my Ethernet adapter speed is capped to 100mb on bazziteβs while I have a dual 1gb/2.5gb ports, using the Tomahawkβs Realtek RTL8125B built in chip
sometimes KDE plasma caps the speed to 100mb/s for some strange reason, i recommend checking the adapter settings
Tried overriding this in the adapter settings but no chance either
So* far Iβve bonded WiFi and Ethernet to get ~300mb but come on D:
are you dual booting with windows? if so, did you disable fast boot
