Flashed a diff bios to gpu and bazzite refuses to boot
Flashed a newer bios onto my gpu to fix an issue ive been having, it seemingly all went well until bazzite seemingly didnt like this and now just loops back into the ostree selection in bootup. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I dont believe this is simply because of the bios, as many others have my exact model card and flashed the exact bios and can boot into different OSs fine, but im unabke to boot into my bazzite install, to test this ill flip the switch to the backup bios, put a different distro on a usb and try and boot with the new bios. Ill come back and post results
Well it womt boot into a linix live iso either. Im not sure whats going on since clearly the its not that it doesn't work, if ut didnt work/wasnt compatible I wouldnt be getting to the boot selection screen in the first place
Using gpt it seems that likely there have been revisions to the card and i happen to have one that has different memory.
Gpt: The fact that it stops before those lines means the driver likely never successfully initialized VRAM → which is exactly what happens when the VBIOS memory timings don’t match the VRAM chips on your card.
So yes: the boot loop is because the kernel cannot bring up VRAM under the ASUS BIOS.
I have an xfx for context but theyre known for crashing under high load (its not a hardware or power issue). And asus bios was reccd. I guess ill have to find another bios with the same clocks then.
Actually im unmarking it as solved it seems that isnt the issue flashing any bios regardless that its the exact same specs and chipset still fails to boot, im curious if anyone may have an idea why i can only boot with the og vbios?
hmm
idk what is happening for bazzite to not allow me through after installing a vbios. I have even tried flashing my exact cards vbios, the merc 319 black version 6900xt. thankfully i still have the old original bios backed up that came straight from my own card, but its so weird, since its the bios made for my card. yet it will boot loop and won't get past the ostree selection in grub
i mostly wanted to do this to alleiviate my issues of my gpu crashing when under 100% load for anywhere from 1-2 hours. this happens a decent bit since i play VR and that utilizes my gpu in full sometimes and im also a 3D artist and do game dev which can be gpu heavy. does anyone know why this happens? it can't be psu i upgraded to a 850w gold rated one and each port on my card is using its own cable so it can't be from using a split cable either.
at this point its not a bazzite question so i will mark as solved and post elsewhere
Boot the bazzite live iso and re-enroll secure boot via ujust
Your bios flash probably nuked the signing keys for the bootloader
That's a guess unless you have logs / a photo to show the issue, actual errors plz

Turns out the vbios shown on techpowerup only shows samsung chip versions, i had micron and had to specifically search micron versions of the card vbios on google because their own site doesn't list them. From there i managed to flash an asus bios onto my xfx card and all is well, no more crashes!
