Copying runway looks without paying insane prices/looking stupid?
Anyone have any advice on this? Choosing Anderson's recent dior show because I like his stuff and it feels very wearable for someone not super into fashion. Love these looks but going to assume they're going to be very expensive and hard to pull off. Would getting similar pieces and bringing to a tailor be the best way to go about, and honestly when the stuff drops from this collection would it be worth it to buy? (is dior good quality?)
Thanks guys in advance

Hi @aden6767676767676767676767676767! For better answers, include:
- Reference pictures
- Budget in numbers
- Specific measurements
- Openness to buying secondhand and/or online
- Location: country/continent is fine
- Timing/urgency
im pretty open in budget, but obviously don't want to pay expensive prices for quality and fit that can be replaced. Very open to secondhand/online, and in the West coast US
The 2nd look is literally shirt pants jacket coat
Other than the shoes it’s tame for this server
Re “hard to pull off” what are you worried about specifically? These fits seem p tame to me especially by runway standards
i would say maybe the layering aspect as well as the detail choices like in the first look (do agree that these looks are pretty tame but i feel like the more avant garde stuff is really not wearable)
I meant more like what are you worried about happening? They’re just clothes and if you want to wear more eye-catching stuff you’re going to catch more eyes
Where’s the bill quote when I need it
Found it

Expensive? Yeah if you buy from Dior, hard to pull off? Not really.
i guess reflecting on it, more the perfect fitting of everything on the runway as well as every choice being pretty thought out. is that more just a focus on getting things tailored?
The first is loafers, straight leg jeans, a chore-ish coat, and an interesting trench situation with a leather collar
I think you are prescribing more to these runways looks than is there
At least the two you have linked
Nothing in those is particularly well tailored. The most difficult thing to replicate is the patterns in the first fit
The 2nd one can be created at nearly any vintage shop
Btw the jeans r falling off the models ass in the second one
So
The shirt tuck is what’s making it look more normal
There is zero tailoring here
All RTW
Yerp
“How do I recreate these looks” and then it’s just @awburkey and I unintentionally shitting on Dior 😭
ahhh okay thank you
I’m gonna recommend you look at more clothes and not just designer. Liking and buying designer is totally fine but these looks and what you like about them don’t strike me as needing to buy Dior at all
like looking at more runway shows or scrolling pinterest? feel like the only things i see online is excessively baggy or skinny hedi slimane looks, as well as most people in my area/age dressing in that la fashion crop t shirt + baggy japanese denim look
lol just noticed
but is that not just normal low rise? or is that too crazy
lowrise doesnt mean you have to tuck in a shirt for it to theoretically fit

Anywhere really check out #inspiration #waywt-highlights in this server
just dont look at the ai slop
I assure you there are more than 3 kinds of fits
im just gonna echo but the runway looks u posted are extremely Just Clothes.. we got a few ppl here doin avant-garde runway shit sick as hell, and these are just the ones that are good at taking waywt photos.

The look on the left feels very easy to assemble
Could be done easily with a little vintage shopping and patience
Second one is a nice coat but you could still probably do something that’s very close to the same look for <500 if you’re patient and deliberate
Jonathan Anderson does produce some unique pieces but these aren’t really them- these looks are more about styling than any of the pieces themselves
Jeans and shirts - uniqlo, gap, and A&F. Or just levis for jeans
cravat could be cheap from Asos
two black/white loafers from gh bass or some "mod" related fashion store
maybe some yellow sabah for the yellow slip ons. could find some cheap turkish slippers on etsy as a cheaper alternative
1st pic - getting a vest in that pattern is the harder part
2nd pic - you've hade to go vintage or look around a bit for a single breasted overcoat like that. If you really want a leather (?) contradt collar that's a tall order.
The navy chore coat underneath isn't that hard. Problem is the funnel neck. Don't know many reputable brands with that.
the above is just from memory and 3 minutes of Googling
