DH server pregen
I bought a server to pregenerate chunks full save and play with friends,
Is it more worth to use my own pc with access to all my threads or will 3 threads be significantly slower to pregenerate full chunks on the paid server?

I have the 5800x which isn’t bad, yet on my pc I can set on c2me to use 16 threads, on the server host I am limited by 3 even though they are using a 7950x. I’m assuming its slower even though the cpu is better because of the threads?

I want the server host mostly because in singleplayer during my pregeneration tests my cpu using 16 threads stays at 90° and idk how i feel about running my server for hours to pregen
If anyone has my same questions / issues :
buying a hosted server will be significantly slower with a heavy modpack because the small amount of threads. In my case 340 mods including 3 - 4 terrain gen mods 17 hrs or more (still generating so yet to know)
Self hosting will be faster but I recommend lowering thread count / looking into ways you can lower temps if you are uncomfortable with running 90° for several hours-
Same set up / modpack and pregeneration i’m guessing would take 7 - 9 hours or more

If you could buy a hosted server that has access to the whole 7950x it would be way faster.

😭i think all the ones i came across limit the threads
+way more expensive
because you usually don't need more than maybe 2 or 3 threads to run a mc server
and that way they can split up a single cpu over multiple customers
Yee the most lilypad offers is 7 threads
Any advice on how many threads to give c2me vs Distant horizons? The same amount as much as i can or divide it between the two, more to one less the other?
I usually just do both on the max
c2me will only generate chunks when DH requests them, so max is probably the best
Cpu use dropped way down ram is maxed, seems gen has halted 😭
how much ram did you allocate to the server
Sorry, would that be in server properties? I’m used to allocating in singleplayer through modrinth

I think I gotta wait for a lilypad admin to do the start up command for me
