sidecar Questions
My Iphone Immich and web version Immich is using the latest release.
When I view a folder in a library/admin/yyyy-mm-dd/ folder I see no sidecars.
The web version of one photo (example) is correct showing one face tag. When I view the photo on the phone, I see two face tags. The descriptions match. I then update the description in the web and the side car is created (didn't exist before). The description change is seen on my iphone however my iphone still shows two face tags. This is one of many examples.
How can I ensure there are side cars for all my photos/videos? Ideally the sidecars always reflects what is in the database. I put a lot of time in the metadata. I understand facetag info is not stored in the sidecars at this time. I'd like to see sidecars be exactly what is stored in the DB. I've read elsewhere that Digikam will read these sidcars and it does store facetag info in the sidecars.
I'm sticky on sidecars because I am moving away from Synology. There is no utility or means to move ALL the metadata out with your picture. With Synology, descriptions for videos are lost during export. There is no facetag metadata exported with your photos. Each vendor/system wants to lock you in which is why I chose to move to Immich. I recognzie Immich is opensource and I have access to the DB. To the creators of Immich, if you are going to use sidecars to store some metadata, store ALL the metadata please (Don't go half way).
