looking for casual shoe that also looks good beat to shit
Hi I am looking for a casual shoe that's kinda waxy or at least will look good with the shit kicked out of it. I guess something with some texture, or a general lack of uniformity.
I don't want no cap toe or dress-y vibes. Basically I hate everything about the last picture, the way the laces look, the soles, the stupid little porous holes.
Right now my only non-sneaker shoes in rotation are Paraboot Michaels and Reims but I'd love something with a round toe. I've got mono 1461s but they hurt my footsies. Maybe need to size up, idk.
Will upload some pairs I've come across and liked: Trickers x Evan Kinori Tramping Shoes, EK x Guidis, Viberg Rockland Blucher Black Waxy, Viberg 145s. Options that don't cost a billion dollars are the Doc 8053s in Crazy Horse but I don't love the black banding around the ankle. Red Wing Postmans aren't bad but I don't like the way the sole looks.
I've heard Viberg lasts are kinda stinky but just wondering what my options are. Mostly hoping there's somethings out there that aren't going to cost me $1,000+ Canadian.
I'm not sure if these are oxfords or derbies or bluchers because every brand uses those terms interchangeably. If any of these are bad options please don't be mad at me about it.

Some kinda derby/oxford from one of the PNW brands or adjacent in roughout or waxed flesh would look good beat to shit
but would be quite expensive
not quite viberg price though
Paraboot Castel might fit the bill
whites c461 oxford
Alden unlined blucher
for something less expensive, astorflex reflex derby
I'd look around on ebay and such for some trickers
eBay
TRICKER'S WAXY ROUGH OUT CUBA SUEDE DANIEL SHOES COMMANDO SOLE UK 9...
STUNNING TRICKER'S "Daniel" Tramping shoes in Waxed Rough Out Cuba Suede. New Tricker's leather insocks. New Tricker's box and cotton dustbags. Condition: Immaculate waxed suede uppers. Only minor wear before being resoled.
for instance
although upon closer inspection the resoling on these is pretty jank so maybe not
lots of other options though
ya this is nice. kinda wish they had that texture but im a keep my eyes open for them.
what brands are those? these? i did a quick google
Whites
JK
Drews
Wesco
Franks
Nicks
Viberg
Truman
ya i just need to figure out what to look for. will need to find a place to try some on too but there's bound to be somewhere around here
I could potentially help with sizing advice for trickers but yeah it's a bit risky without trying them on yourself
i assume im probably 7.5uk, im usually a 41.5/8.5US in dress shoes/boots. 26.5-27.5cm if we're going by jpy sizing. but looks like there's two trickers stockists relatively nearby. as long as i can find a similar last to whatever ig et online i can probably try something on
well fwiw, since you mentioned michaels, I'm a 44 eu/10 uk in paraboots and also a 10 uk in trickers 4497 last
can squeeze into a 43.5 in michaels, chambord is pretty narrow for me at 44 but still wearable
4497 is very comfy
Kleman also has a round toe model, I think it’s called the Dormance. I’m positive it’s a dupe of some PBoot though so if you’re in the market for those nevermind that.
I assume you’re looking for brown rather than black but fwiw Red Wing Postmans have been insanely good for me. The sole isn’t actually that noticeable day to day, but it also has been a reason for me to get them in the first place rather than a deterrent.
Oh yeh sorry, I was thinking of the Whites Oxford and Wesco JH (although f for Wesco lead times)
This is how the reddish-brown leather that one of the castels is made of will look like when its a bit more beaten up.

I think the black leather is dyed through and will keeo a more uniform appearance.
I think I’m really drawn to the sort of waxy/rough out in most of my inspo above, I’m not short on leather footwear but it fits… I don’t want to say a “gap” but at least a “want” in my wardrobe.
Officine Creative or Marsell also do some waxy derbies
