Looking-Glass issues (The host application seems to not be running)
Pinging @HikariKnight
Hi Hikari, thanks for your help!
Built the client in distrobox following your instructions. I've tried latest release and bleeding edge of LG host.

Let me know what else i can provide
8951522 [E] d12.c:265 | d12_init | Failed to create the DXGI factory: 0x887a0001 (The application made a call that is invalid. Either the parameters of the call or the state of some object was incorrect.)
might be thatYeah D12 fails to init, not sure why
going to double check mine just in case
It falls back to dxgi but that stops capturing immediately
yeah d12 capture initializes fine for me
Alright good to know, i'll dig further into that first then, figure out why it fails
check and see if there are any issues with the driver that might be a good start
maybe also try lower the kvmfr static size if possible, i forgot if it was 128mb or 256mb that was for 4k
Yeah want 4k HDR so 256, but good shout, i'll see if that helps
HDR might require to run inside gamescope atm though
which can be messy with looking-glass and scaling
Ah fair, it's not a must have
but yeah try smaller static size to begin with
i have only tested with 128mb static size max
mainly since i dont have a way to test hdr on looking-glass π
I saw KDE added support and works well with proton, so was curious to see if LG would too
Thanks for having a look, will test and let you know π
if 128mb works and 256mb doesnt work then i am unsure where the issue is exactly
let me see if there is any update to the kvmfr module
nope last update was 7 months ago which is in sync with the copr
Ok good
keep me informed with the 128mb static size helped
No luck with changing kvmfr size. The DX12 failure was because i had enabled DX12 debugging. Turning it off i no longer get that error
But same behaviour, the LG client also grabs the spice console output and not the display out from the GPU
I disabled the basic display adapter for the spice console in Windows, so the LG client displays the last frame of the TianoCore splash before Windows inits
disabling the basic display adapter worked in the end or?
No, if i keep it enabled LG client just grabs that output while saying "The host application seems to not be running". If i disable it, LG client is capturing output until windows reaches the login screen, then freeszes, so all i see is:

the client and host matches right?
both being B7
Looking Glass Host (B7), Looking Glass client (B7-161-gfddcb7f2d4)
currently not using the bleeding edge host
but tried both
and the virtual adapter in the vm is QXL right?
and you have the driver installed for QXL also
It's set to VGA atm, following: https://looking-glass.io/docs/B7/install_libvirt/#:~:text=%3Cmodel%20type%3D%27-,vga,-%27/%3E
But yeah i can for sure change to QXL and try
oh ok back when i originally set mine up it was fine to use qxl
i wonder why it has changed to vga now π€
guess i got something to test later
maybe less overhead
Possibly π€
No dice trying QXL
Would help if the LG logs was more verbose
well i dont think the issue is in kvmfr so might be worth asking in the looking glass discord π€
Sure, thanks Hikari π
