when hosting a server on my main machine
while also playing on it at the same time everything is perfectly smooth
(also using 6GB there most of the time, even sky factory 4 is perfectly smooth)
I mean yeah the cpu is newer and better (not a T model) but is the difference really THAT big?
from what I've read my specs shold be perfectly fine for even multiple people playing
also both on the same network with lan at 250mbit down- and ~45mbit upload
also I'm running vnc connect to access the optiplex from my pc not sure if thats using too much cpu
seems maybe slightly better? may just be my imagination
also the server has like 260-300ms ping cus of playit, maybe thats the reason for delay? tho on my modded sf4 server my mate could play just fine
Btw since it seems I havent mentioned what exactly lags
crafting, opening block uis and dropping blocks all have like a 250ms delay
Basically everything with interaction (except just breaking blocks)
playit.gg issue maybe?
Thought so too, but it works fine when hosting on my pc
Sadly I dont have a static ip to port forward
Maybe I really gotta call the isp
Na don't port forward
Your home router
why not?
also just tested just connecting to the ip and its wayyyy smoother
even tho its just running on wifi rn (took it from the other room cus realvnc didnt work)
okay
so
I'm trying to use duckdns right now, I have a domain and its curling my ipv6 from api6.ipify.org
however when adding a server with '"name.duckdns.org:25565" it wont work
where is this server hosted?
you can use a wireguard tunnel
from a vps
to your pc
or tailscale
and an nginx port stream
Totally forgot abt this thread, so I got it working but only people with ipv6 can connect so it seems like I do need a tunnel
I could be wrong, but I think minecraft isn't made to run over ipv6
You could try tcpshield's free version
I set mine up with a domain I own, though. Idk about using duckdns
I dont really know alot about networking but the current issue is that you need an ipv6 to communicate with the server since it also runs over ipv6
a tunnel would fix that
through duckdns I have a domain that links to the dynamic ipv6
