Drop to 20 FPS until restarting Minecraft

Hello! I am having a bit of an issue and I'm trying to figure out the cause. I am playing with shaders enabled with IRIS and get random drops to 20 FPS and they remain there until I restart MC. I have dedicated more RAM to MC in an attempt to solve the issue and I have been unsuccessful. I am running a GTX 4070 Super and running the most up to date versions of IRIS and the shader. Attached is an F3 screenshot to assist troubleshooting. Thank you!

I think you have too much RAM allocated to MC. High amounts (>8GB) can actually cause those sorts of frame rate drops For a pretty vanilla instance, 2GB of RAM is fine. For more heavily modded games, 4-6GB might be necessary. I wouldn't allocate more than 8GB of RAM to the game under any circumstance

I’ve had this problem before allocating more RAM. But I will drop it back down to 4GB

Yeah 4GB is more than enough for a lot of cases

I’ll try that and report back Still a similar situation, this time the FPS recovered. But dropped back down

Okay. Try removing all mods except Sodium + Iris (bare minimum for running shaders) and see what you get.

I am not running any mods, it’s pure vanilla except for that and the shader. No changes thus far

So I changed my settings from high (default) to very high, and it actually helped.. I only had one drop to 20 FPS that lasted for about 10 or 15 seconds, then recovered. This was over the time span of about an hour or so I think.
