if it's a deb package you can install that inside a debian or ubuntu distrobox
and then export it
im trying here but all i see is a command panel that open says done and closes even before i can take a screenshot
but no app in installed
i think that might be a permission problem with boxbuddy (flatpak not having access to home?), but it's generally recommended to use distroshelf around here
distroshelf does the same thing
sorry it's late for me, won't be on for much longer :s3tired: perhaps make sure that they have access to your home directory through warehouse and/or launch the distrobox at least once in terminal to initialize it properly
it's not actually downloading opera gx, it's just downloading regular opera
opera gx itself isn't available on Linux
I know it's stupid because they pull a quick one on ya
if you're okay with regular opera, you can get it on Bazaar (the app store for Bazzite)

daaang i never realized that, thanks for chiming in :care:
i've seen articles that mention installing it as a deb such as this https://betanet.net/view-post/how-to-install-opera-gx-on-linux
but that was probably AI generated garbage all along
well that sucks but i still got that instalation problem, was going to instal FDM (free download manager) there is not on bazzar but there is on the website in .deb format and it is not instaling thru distroshelf/boxbuddy
Did you try to launch the distrobox at least once
through distroshelf
tried now, same problem
are you in the terminal now? of the distrobox
it should look something like that

yea, got the terminal here open
try typing
sudo apt install and then drag the deb file in from your file manager
same problem but now the terminal doesn`t close instantly
did you change your terminal to something else?
not that i know of
what's your preferred terminal here in distroshelf

in settings
the same you have
which distrobox for ubuntu did you pick? i have docker.io/library/ubuntu:24.04

docker.io/library/ubuntu:14.04
oh that's pretty old
try something newer like 24.04
perhaps that's why it was failing :ThonkFedora:
yea
i just created one and i get the same symptom as you
well i just used the top version thinking it was sorted by age
ubuntu 14, that's from 2014 :crying:
now im just waiting the basic package to install to see if it works
π fingers crossed
well it worked!, but another problem appeared
huh i don't get this error message
let me try with a fresh distroboxβ¦
wait⦠is it already installed?
check if it appears in the exportable apps list

it worked
it's offering me to download 194 packages for the freedownloadmanager :ThonkFedora:
but glad to hear that it worked
well that weird but a least it works, thank you for helping me, now i know how to use a distrobox for installing programs
