Prism Launcher prefers system RAM on hybrid graphics systems
Computer specs: HP Victus Laptop fb2000nr
Cpu: AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS
Installed RAM: 16 GB 14.9 GB usable
Integrated GPU: Radeon 780M
Dedicated GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4060
I have noticed a strange thing when using Prism Launcher with Lutris.
It seems to vastly prefer using my integrated graphics memory rather than use the dedicated GPU memory even when I select use dedicated graphic card with Lutris.
I also viewed the HP BIOS options and saw no option to disable the integrated GPU.
Effect: Almost doubles my system RAM usage or more while the dedicated graphics card barely uses any memory at all.

why are you using prism with lutris?

You just manually use the Flatpak ID, it also wouldn’t enable my dedicated GPU at all if I didn’t use Lutris.
was confuzzled why you'd be using lutris

thought you might be trying to use the Windows version for some reason
Nah the store has Prism Launcher
I just need to provide the flathub ID to Lutris
prism has an option for this in it's own settings

It did work now
But it still uses a lot more memory than normal
With 4 GB reserved

It shows the proper memory value now

Didn’t need prime, but it does give me an excuse to increase the RAM size
There's a setting in prism to just use the dedicated gpu
Make sure you enabled it
I did, still uses a lot of memory anyways
I think the app is still using System RAM as VRAM or combines with GPU RAM somehow
I checked Prism Launcher on Linux Mint
The memory usage was down from Bazzite and CachyOS
Maybe the app is Ubuntu centric and breaks when using other distributions
