Cannot get back into game mode
Hey there, guys.
I just installed bazzite on a desktop computer which I intend to use with my TV, but the "return to game mode" shortcut stopped working.
When I double click it, the screen goes black, and then it loads straight back into desktop mode.
Further more, the steam client remains logged out, and it's updated after every boot.
I've already tried google-ing for solutions, and I found this thread.
It describes the exact same problem I'm experiencing:
https://universal-blue.discourse.group/t/bazzite-fails-to-boot-into-gaming-mode-and-logs-me-out-and-updates-client-on-each-boot/8240/2
However, none of the proposed steps managed to fix the issue.

Bazzite fails to boot into Gaming Mode and logs me out and updates ...
Is this the same issue? Maybe the fix will help.

the rpm-ostree output is this
I tried running the ujust fix-reset-steam command, but it didn't solve anything
I also tried disabling the SDDM auto-login, but it fails to do so
It asks for my password and after I type it in, the auto-login feature remains enabled.
Hardware specs are:
CPU: Intel Core i7 8700K
GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Super
the shortcut just logs you out
you get gaming mode to load by setting it to log into gaming mode automatically
though
you are using bazzite-deck
this should normally be the default
rebooting should work as a workaround to get back into gaming mode
this is a known issue with no solution unfortunately
it happens with an external monitor connected
damn, I was really excited about bazzite and having a steam machine available for my tv...
Do you know if SteamOS has this issue?
steamOS doesn't even work with nvidia cards
great...
why aren't you on a nvidia image btw?
I thought I was
bazzite-deck:stable
it should be bazzite-deck-nvidia
huh...
must've missclicked
ok, I guess I'll do a full reformat
you don't have to
you can rebase to the nvidia image
https://docs.bazzite.gg/Installing_and_Managing_Software/Updates_Rollbacks_and_Rebasing/rebase_guide/
Use bazzite rollback helper or brh in terminal it makes rebasing easier

thanks I'll get into it
there's an issue with the image picker that i discovered, when you switch devices too many times it will offer you the wrong image
hopefully it will be fixed soon
can you tell me what exactly is the difference between these 2 options?

you do not need to download anything to rebase
oh

it's a command
read the pages that i linked
you want to rebase to bazzite-deck-nvidia
should I pick stable 42

stable
if you rebase to a specific image version you won't get updates any more
better to rebase to stable
thanks. it's in the process now
this did the trick
the shortcut does the job as intended
I'm having other issues with the bluetooth adapter, but that's for another thread, I guess
I'll mark this one as solved. Thank you very much for the help
