I recommend getting more RAM, 8GB isn't really enough for modern gaming when Steam already uses 1GB. 16+ is recommended
the thing is, i don't need more ram, the game i play are far from ram itensive and the games i said it was freezing my pc was games that already runned on my win 10 pc
Windows 10 is a lot better with low memory situations, it will slow to a crawl whereas Linux will become unresponsive and freeze
either disable ZRAM and set your swap to something like 8GB, or buy more RAM
how do i do these thing?
the GUI perhaps the terminals probably not
they just slow to a crawll as well
Windows is a GUI furst IS
a lot of GUI components live in kernel
Linux configured correctly can run on a few megs of RAM
oh wow
the AI summary says puppy Linux runs with 32 megs of RAM
Windows 10 can't go that far down
minimum it can handle is 256 megs i think
still pretty impressive
that's not really relevant here imo, fact is that the GUI completely freezes when RAM is exhausted, it's a general linux problem and the only solution seems to either buy more ram or cheat and get virtual ram (swap)
XP can do like 2o megs
no less though
and 8GB RAM is very little for bazzite, it's on the heavier side as far as distros go
ok then, if this problem cant be fixed i guess im forced to go back to win 10
buy more RAM or set up a swap file
Using Swap for Additional Memory or Hibernation - Bazzite Documenta...
Bazzite is a custom image built upon Fedora Atomic Desktops that brings the best of Linux gaming to all of your devices.
you have to consider that when using a laptop with integrated graphics, that it also uses the system RAM for video memory⦠so when running games, there's even more pressure on the RAM
Look, im tying to avoid the whole buying conversation because im POOR , i cannot just Buy more ram far from it is buying a whole brand new laptop
ill try to do the swap memory and desable zram thing, if that dont work, guess i will be left looking for alternatives

so i have to re-install my entire operating system?
there is no easier way to switch kde to gnome?
There's an app called Mending Wall in Bazaar, no clue if it works but its whole purpose is to let that work nicely
the app itself does not make it easier to switch , but it seems that it does fix bugs related to switching
Instead of reinstalling I assume you would use that app and then could rebase without issues
I did a bit of looking around the internet, changing kde to gnome will not solve the problem the difference is not that significant, but also the limited amount o ram should not be a problem because it seem that linux handle ram a lot more different than i thought
but im close to finding the actual problem, it seem my pc is alergic to maxing out the ram in any way, here is the test i just did
Got a minecraft forge moded version, a very ram intensive process to load all the mods, if i change the setting and let the loucher use a lot of my ram the game loads, but if i reduce the ram usage it freezes my pc if the limit i put in is maxed out, and not if my actual ram is maxed out, What the heck is going on here
