USB device constantly detected/removed every few seconds, can't get it to work

I'm trying to get my wired Xbox 360 controller to work and when I plug in, it's constantly getting detected and then removed every few seconds, and obviously does not work. Does not matter which USB port I use. If I try to boot the PC while the controller is plugged in, it simply won't boot, it just gets stuck somewhere with no screen signal, and I have to unplug and reset the PC. I found this thread, recognizing usb autosuspend as the issue ( https://www.answeroverflow.com/m/1325528957923360909 ) but running the prompt didn't change anything for me. I did also test the controller on a different PC (Windows) and it works perfectly fine so no faulty hardware.
