Shader Sky Issues

Starters:
My purpose here is that, in observation of how nobody really knows the root cause of this problem affecting multiple shaders, I may be able to provide some useful insights and hopefully inspire someone to resolve the problem. The common factor seems to be usage of Distant Horizons.

So please consider the following from my own observations hosting my own server with a small DH-centric pack of mods identical to those on my client:
  • Shader works correctly every time in singleplayer
  • Shader breaks 50% of the time joining multiplayer
  • Reloading shaders always fixes the problem
  • Reloading shaders 20 times does not manifest the problem -- so the issue is specifically when first joining a server, not the mere fact of being within a server
  • Log file has nothing interesting to say about this / no errors compared with a working server join and a bugged server join
  • Mods are up to date
  • I don't have any mods known to cause problems with DH
  • DH Transparency setting is set to Complete
