Color Resolution
Is there a way to adjust the color resolution? My monitor is the AW3423DW which supports 10 bit up to 144Hz then 8bit up to 175Hz. In Windows, the Nvidia app can control this, but I don't have similar options in my display configuration here. Setting it to 144 doesn't seem to automatically bring it up to 30. Terminal command xdpyinfo | grep -A 30 screen suggests just 8 bit with a 24 plane depth reported.

if you disable hdr, do you get an option to change bit depth?
I don't
Maybe an amd vs nvidia option? https://discuss.kde.org/t/how-to-force-10-bit-color-depth-on-a-monitor-in-kde-6/40441/22

How to force 10 Bit color depth on a monitor in KDE 6
I’m running Solus OS - Plasma Edition with the latest kernel and using Radeon/AMD GPU. I got 10 bit colors.
if you are using nvidia, then probably
I'm not entirely convinced that an AMD card actually sets it to 10 bits though. I know someone running a 9070 xt that can set it to 10, but running xdpyinfo they still show 24 planes as depth
of course xdpyinfo is going to show 8 bit
Xwayland does not use 10 bit by design
Xorg basically doesn't support 10 bit(some apps might work under 10 bit, but most will render incorrectly, including steam)
Is there a better command to use to see what is set? I can compare what is set with my nvidia vs the amd set up. Googling this makes it seem like 10 bit should be supported for my desktop, even with nvidia. I'm wondering if there's something with the monitor not supporting 10 bit at the highest refresh that is locking out 10 even though I selected a lower hz
you could try kscreen-doctor

"unknown" 😛
I'll ask what my buddy sees with his amd card
should be something like 10 bit [8, 16]
that's what is shown on both my amd machines
