Rocket League won't launch on LInux system
Today I tried to play Rocket League, since the Steam version does not have multiplayer I downloaded Heroic Game Launcher and ogged in to Epic Games through it.
I downloaded Rocket League on the launcher and then proceeded to choose the newest proton-ge version.
When I start the game it shows as "launching" to then after like 10 seconds stop it and turn off.
When I try to start it I see the console (cmd) open up for a brief second and then close itself immediately.
I am out of ideas on how to fix this issue, maybe someone from this community also had this issue and knows how to get it running ?
I thank everyone in advance.

RADV 25 is required, you're still on 23

Found device: AMD Radeon Vega 10 Graphics (RADV RAVEN) (radv 23.2.1)info: Skipping: Device does not support required feature 'maintenance5' (extension: VK_KHR_maintenance5) Still old Just update your ubuntu base Maybe 22.04 doesnt ship up to date stuff anymore
PPA should still have it
foreign-sapphireOP•3w ago
how would i do that, i am pretty new to all of this
adverse-sapphire•3w ago
Yes but maybe 2 months later it will hit another issue eg glibc too old etc
Considering Proton and friends are always moving targets that needs many things up to date and considers Arch as primer target
foreign-sapphireOP•3w ago
^ this, how would i do that? I am pretty new to all of this

https://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/how-to-upgrade-from-ubuntu-22-04-lts-to-ubuntu-24-04-lts/
Either do this or start a new which i assume you didnt do much with your system still anyways.
foreign-sapphireOP•3w ago
Id much rather not start a new one since this one has data already on it I am not allowed to delete
adverse-sapphire•3w ago
👍
Then do above
Is this your parents pc or something?
@DerMatthiasEK
foreign-sapphireOP•3w ago
it is a laptop i got to use but i was told to keep all the data on there as the person who gave it to me sometimes uses it
adverse-sapphire•3w ago
Ok, then if that person said that do PPA instead
Would be much safer
Wait a min
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kisak/turtle
sudo apt update
Do these
After that, refresh your update manager
You should see a 25.0.7 driver update
Updating base itself is better solution long term stillforeign-sapphireOP•3w ago
ok ill try it and see if it works after
FWIW you can also check the driver version with
vulkaninfo --summary, no need to launch Heroic & the game every time
You likely also want to run sudo add-apt-repository --remove ppa:kisak/kisak-mesa, IIRC apt won't let you update at all when you have a PPA without a release candidate for your distro addedadverse-sapphire•3w ago
Does he have fresh added already?
I specifially gave turtle because fresh says 22.04 is discontinued btw
Well I sent the command for it above, so I'm guessing yes

Remove the one posted before like this
Only turtle is compatible with your base

You didnt update the driver
Just adding ppas doesnt lead to update
Go to your update manager and refresh it
You should see mesa updates pending there after refresh

when i do that it tells me that it failed due to me having no internet turned on (which i obviously have)
i wonder why thats happening

it sees to not want to update
You seem to have added a 3rd-party repo (
http://update.devolo.com/) which is currently offline
That shouldn't be a problem though, run sudo apt upgrade nowforeign-sapphireOP•3w ago
i did and it doesnt want to update
What's the full output of that command?
Note that
update and upgrade do different things. You did update, you now want to upgradeforeign-sapphireOP•3w ago

That's not what I'm asking for. Open your terminal and run
sudo apt upgrade, don't use the update managerforeign-sapphireOP•3w ago

Ah I see, the "packages" in Launchpad are sources, they're not actual packages in the repo
