Exploratory Question
Hey everyone!
We already know the standard agent roles (Controller, Sentinel, Duelist, Initiator), but Iām trying to break them down into more specific playstyle categories like smokes, flash, etc

i think for controllers there r two categories one being the traditional vision blocker smokers like brim astra omen they are good for pulling off like elaborate and coordinated map control
but the other two smokers namely being viper and clove r better for fast execution and i feel they are more situational and work best for quick site hits
like for example the traditional vision blocking smokes r good for structured and coordinated plays but clove and viper and harbour too are better for unpredictable plays to cut off angles and whatever
- and for sentinel obviously theres support sentinels and then theres site control sentinels and intel sentinels
i think sage is a good example of support sentinel because while shes a great support to her teammates shes not really that good at holding site down so theyre more useful while attacking
while kj, veto and deadlock lean more towards locking the site down and making it harder for enemies to push a site they r better for post plant on attacking and defense
while agents like cypher r more of intel sentinels because they give information on enemies location and stuff and the only thing in his kit to hold site down is his tripwires also the fact that when enemies step into his cage it makes a sound i think the fact that even his site lockdown ability namely being the tripwires reveal the enemies through walls and his camera and the cage sound and his ult makes him an intel sentinel
and for initiators theres intel initiators and entry support initiators
like sova is an intel initiator he gets information for you and gets recon but doesnt necessarily help the duelists enter
and then theres initiators like breach and gekko that help duelists enter by getting site info as well as making it easier for duelists to enter by flashing stunning etc
and i think skye is a little bit of a mix of both of them
for duelists i think theres two categories the entry duelist and support duelist
for entry duelists
theres jett and waylay because they can enter the site proficiently and get out of difficult situations easily
but duelists like reyna are more lkke support for the actual entry duelist because she doesnt have anything in her kit to actually help her enter alone other than her flash

if there was a more specific role for controllers, i would divide them into lurkers and team fighters
lurkers have cross map util that can allow them to support their team even when they aren't really grouped up with them, for example viper can setup her wall across the map and then go lurk on the other side of the map, allowing her to take timings that other controllers cant because their util is range limited. astra can also fit into this role, because her stars can be preplaced across the map, allowing her to lurk across the map without leaving her team without smokes.
team fighters have more range limited util that forces them to play with their team, lest they cant throw down any util and leave their team in basically a 4v5. brim is a really good example, his smokes have a limited range and his stim beacon has be thrown down near his team to get any real value. omen is also a good example, his smokes, while being longer range than brims, still are range limited. his flash is also extremely useful for retakes and site takes, as it is extremely huge, and fills out large lanes of the map, creating a ton of space, but it is range limited and has much less impact if you only use it on one guy and it barely creates any space

I think we need a mandatory category breakdown for duelists because low elo cannot tell the difference between lurkers like reyna and yoru, and entries like jett and raze
