Bazzite: Cannot launch Heroic (App Image) through Steam
This issue started up over the weekend after updating steam. I have my system set up so that I have heroic launcher as a separate app I can launch on steam. After updating steam I hit play on heroic and it just doesn’t launch. It holds on the play button forever like it is launching/is launched but never does. No system icon in the tray either nor anything on the system monitor to show that it’s launched. When telling it to stop it takes upwards of a minute to actually stop. The odd thing is that I can launch heroic through the actual app image file just fine, and the shortcuts for my epic games on steam work as long as I have launched it through the actual file (heroic will not launch automatically when clicking the game now. Assuming it has to do with the whole “not launching through steam anymore” thing). I am under the assumption that this is an issue on how steam is trying to launch it if at all.
Things I have done so far:
- made sure steam was fully updated
- updated system
- updated Proton-GE (using Proton-GE latest)
- re-logged into all services
- redid adding as a non-steam game.
- tried with and without compatibility layers. Only one that makes progress and hangs w/o immediately quitting was without force compatibility on.
- Checked the app image and launching by clicking the actual file works fine.
If anyone has time and could be so kind please help
. I’m still new to Linux so I’m not even sure how I would diagnose this if there is a way.
