Bad advice given, deleted Encoded-videos directory
Hello, i've fairly new to Immich. transitioning off google as of mid to late September. i started noticing many of my encoded videos were coming up darker than they should. after some google searching i found others were having the same issue and that it was related to hardware transcoding/tone mapping. i was told it would be safe to change my transcoding policy switching from hardware encoding to software. i then could delete my encoded-video directory which would force all my videos to transcode again. that was likely bad advice. now about half of my videos will not load in immich even if i can download the original. have two issues, first issue is the video does not load in immich when selected or highlighted. but i can download the original. second issue is immich is not transcoding what i think is half of my videos using the new reset to default transcoding settings. possibly if these successfully transcode, it might fix my first issue.
i am on version 2.1.0. running on Unraid as a community app, docker.

If this ticket can be closed you can use the /close command, and re-open it later if needed. You need to run a transcode all job. That job will delete old transcodes on its own
Possibly transcode missing will work, but transcode all would be the surefire solution
maybe but doesnt that transcode the videos i dont need to transcoded?
As in videos that are already transcoded?
meaning the videos that don't meet the transcode policy
Nope. It'll delete everything in the encoded video directory, and then transcode all videos according to the policy you set
ill give it a try, thanks
