Hollow Knight from GOG has issues with fullscreen / borderless mode
I have been playing Hollow Knight using GOG these last few weeks without any issues. About one week ago, I started experiencing issues, where Hollow Knight would glitch out on the start menu. The application would completely freeze; moving my cursor doesn't move my cursor in-game. Only Alt-tabbing to another application and then returning back would update the screen. Turning off borderless mode and simply playing windowed solves this issue, even though I would like to find a way to play in borderless / windowed mode. Any help would be appreciated.
(I am on the Wayland Session of KDE Plasma using the native version of Hollow Knight)

Kind of a non-answer, but I had display issues with the native build of Hollow Knight on Steam. Switching to the Windows build fixed it for me.

I was considering switching. I, however, didn't want to lose my game progression / game settings

Make a backup of your save file

where would I find it?

the save file is also kept outside of the game folder
so deleting the game will not delete the save
and as a nice side bonus, you'll get cloud syncing on GOG

ah alright good... is there any easy way to switch the version? Or should I just uninstall the game and reinstall it?
yeah I saw that

you have to uninstall

alright, I'll try it I guess
would you by any chance also know where game settings are stored?

scroll up on the linked wiki page

yeah I just saw, sorry!
I'm never sure how Proton does this, but wouldn't I then at least need to move the files to a new location, since Wine somewhere creates a file structure that resembles the file structure of Windows?
mute-gold•2w ago
Yes, you will need to move the files into the prefix folder

huh using proton-ge did not solve the issue

Darn. Then it might be some other display or GPU driver issue

The weird thing is, that it worked like 1 and a half weeks ago...

did anything change in the last week? maybe the game got an update or something? or drivers upgrade? or OS update?

not that I know? I somewhat vividly remember having to force-quit Hollow Knight and it never working since, due to it not responding, though that might just be my mind misremembering a reason.
Although as I use arch (btw), I have updated my system multiple times in the mean time
